What Are the Benefits of Using Compostable Coffee Cups?

Using compostable disposable coffee cups as opposed to plastic-lined coffee cups is ultimately better for the environment. The reason for this is that traditional single use coffee cups cannot be recycled. Compostable coffee cups can be disposed of with food waste which is taken to a composting facility to be composted. Compostable packaging is an excellent eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic.

What’s the Difference Between Biodegradable and Compostable Coffee Cups?

It’s a common misconception that the terms “biodegradable” and “compostable” have the same meaning. The term “compostable” refers to a material that can break down in under 12 weeks. The term “biodegradable” doesn’t specify the timeframe required to break down the material. An example of this is wood which is a biodegradable material, however it takes around 13 years for a standard wooden chair to decompose.
